Yet another new month means more new wines
from the best wine shop around!
We’ll talk about them in a minute. First of all,
your Pick-up Party is Wednesday, February 3rd.
Come on in and taste all Club wines, any time from 4-9.
The monthly BOTTLE WINNER is Eve Eisenhower. Eve,
you get to pick any past or present Silver level wine.
PLUS… your STOCK-UP DAYS fall on Saturday and
Sunday, February 27th and 28th. This is your opportunity
to buy as much wine as you want – all of it at a 10%
discount!
Okay, now for the wines. Silver #1 is the 2008 Allegretti
L’uzzolo Toscana, which is a 50-50 blend of Cabernet
and Merlot made with organically grown grapes.
This is an incredibly well-structured Super Tuscan-
style wine, with black cherry and blackberry notes
showing a moderate oak influence, and guided by
substantial tannins through the long, grippy finish.
A great accompaniment to meats and hard cheeses,
this can easily age for another decade.
Silver #2 is the 2012 Homefire Berry Farm Zinfandel
from Dry Creek Valley, which is 85% Zin, 10% Cab,
and 5% Petite Sirah.
Aromas of blackberry, cherry, and strawberry are accented
by floral accents of violet and citrus. This wine provides rich
brambly flavors that invite another sip. There are hints of
cocoa, vanilla and toasted oak.
Gold level next. First up is the 2012 Gallegos Merlot from
Rutherford, Napa Valley.
This wine is gorgeous. Loaded with dark plums, berries,
and currants on the palate, plus dashes of oak, mint,
and subtle herbs on the finish. The fruit lingers too,
nice and ripe, just enough to stand in balance to the
dusty tannins. Very good structure and quality.
Gold #2 is the new vintage of a huge favorite, the 2013
Alto Moncayo Veraton Garnacha from Campo de Borja,
Spain.
This wine once again has received big press, in this
case a 92 point score from Wine Advocate:
“This is a blockbuster, 100% Old Vine Grenache, with
a deep-purple color, great intensity, loads of blackcurrant
and black cherry fruit, with licorice, lavender and a touch
of graphite and earth. It is full-bodied and powerful.”
Come see us on Wednesday, 2/3/16, to taste all
four of these delicious wines.
Cheers, and have a great month!!
