Wine Club Newsletter 2/2019

Your wines await you, and we’ll describe them in a moment. First, some news:

Your Pick-up Party, which is your opportunity to taste all 4 Club wines for FREE,

Now let’s get to the wines, Silver Level first. The 2014 Maddalena Cabernet
comes from Paso Robles and received a 91 point score from Wine Enthusiast:

“A deep red-berry aroma meets with mocha and toasty oak on the richly layered nose.  There is solid complexity to the palate, with chalky tannins sitting beside more cocoa, red fruit and light caramel.

Then we have the 2015 Juan Gil Monastrell from Jumilla, Spain. 91 points
Wine Advocate:

“This is pure Monastrell aged in oak for 12 months. It is focused, fresh and approachable, with berries, Mediterranean herbs and balsamic notes, quite intense. The palate is very tasty … with fine tannins, good balance and freshness. Approachable and easy to drink.”

Gold level next. The 2016 Sanford Pinot Noir is from the Santa Rita Hills.

This wine bursts with black raspberry and orange peel, along with savory notes of lavender and white pepper. The palate delivers dense dusty, berry flavors with balanced acid and tannin structure, which carries on with a long & lovely finish.

Then back to Spain! The 2009 Vina Ardanza Rioja Reserva got a stellar 96 point
review from James Suckling:

“A great wine, this is fresh and vivid with berries, dark spice, and hints of walnuts.
It is full-bodied and muscular.”
