Now for the wines…
WINE CLUB TASTING NOTES:
Beginning with the Silver Level, we have the 2019 Rosario Vera Tempranillo, from Spain’s Rioja region.
This wine offers vibrant aromas of ripe berries, plum and red currant, balanced by earthy notes of incense, black licorice, tobacco and toasty oak. It shows density and fine structure, with bright acidity and supple tannins through the long, spicy finish.
Next is the 2018 Bella Grace Zinfandel from Amador County.
This hearty, almost meaty wine offers bold blackberry and light wood smoke flavors on a firm texture of tannins and good acidity. It has a chewy, grippy mouthfeel and the concentrated fruit flavors to match that structure.
Now for Gold Level. The 2019 Kiamie R’Own Blend is from Paso Robles, a blend of 55% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 5% Petite Sirah.
The nose reveals black cherry and cassis, with a chalky hint. On the palate it is nice and juicy, but with enough grip and good acid to provide a solid tent pole of structure. The oak tones are well integrated, delivering a touch of spice, and there is a bit of dusty earth in the background. Overall the wine offers terrific flavor, balance and presence.
Last but not least is the 2021 Jeff Runquist “R” Petite Sirah, from Clarksburg.
This is a rich, complex wine that starts with aromas of boysenberry, cassis, mocha and dark chocolate. On the supple palate, savory flavors of concentrated dark fruits meld with those of mocha, toast and vanilla. The texture is luscious and creamy.
Thank you as always for joining us on this fabulous adventure of wine and friendship. Cheers!
