Welcome to May! A bit of customary housekeeping first, then we’ll talk about your wines.
The monthly free bottle winner is Doug Igawa. Congrats!
Your STOCK-UP DAYS for May are Saturday and Sunday, the 22nd and 23rd. Take advantage of that discount!
As we did last month, we’re giving you not 1 but 3 opportunities to taste the wines. All four will be available Tues-Thurs, May 4-6. This tasting is FREE for you and your spouse, or a friend.
Now for the Club wines, Silver first, and we’ve got a fun comparison set for you! Both Silvers are 2018 Chianti Classicos, and both are from consistently excellent producers that we have called on for previous Club wines. First is from San Felice, 92 points James Suckling:
“This is bright and vivid, showing blueberries, blackberries and violet notes. It shows tight tannins and bright acidity, as well as a vivid finish. The real deal.”
Second is from Tenuta Arceno, also 92 points James Suckling:
“This offers both ripeness and energy, with juicy plum flavors accented by suggestions of walnut, orange peel and savory hints.”
Now we go for the Gold. The 2018 Brewer Clifton Pinot Noir is from the Sta. Rita Hills, 94 points Wine Enthusiast:
“Intense aromas of black cherry, flower petals and cola are unabashedly fruit-forward, yet there’s spicy tension as well. Cherry and pomegranate flavors lead the palate, and hints of eucalyptus, black tea, root beer and thyme add complexity.”
We wrap things up with the 2016 Keller Estate “Rotie,” from Petaluma Gap. 94 points Wine Advocate:
“This cool climate Syrah, co-fermented with 7% Viognier (as is typically done in Cote Rotie), offers elegant aromatics of dark fruit, damp earth, lavender and violets. The complex palate presents blackberries, plums and spices, with hints of anise, cocoa, tobacco and dark earth.”
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your friendship & support. Cheers, and Happy Mother’s Day!
