We hope you have a healthy, happy and productive May. To help with the happy part, at the very least, we have terrific Club Wines for you!
We’ll discuss those in a sec; first, the usual details.
The winner of this month’s free bottle is Drew Beatty. Congrats!
Your opportunity to taste all 4 Club Wines is this Tues-Thurs, 5/3-5. This tasting is FREE for you and your spouse, or a friend.
As for your “Stock-Up Days,” when you may purchase wine at a 10% discount, they are Saturday and Sunday, the 14th and 15th.
Now for the wines, Silver Level first. The 2016 Muriel Rioja Reserva from Spain offers a perfumed nose of dark cherry, plum, coconut, cedar and dried thyme. It is full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a firm, delicious finish.
The 2018 Meleto Chianti Classico has pure, pretty aromas of violet and wild berries. On the palate, pliant tannins and bright acidity gently lift flavors of juicy cherry and a hint of baking spice.
Now for Gold! The 2018 Sao Miguel Reserva is a Portuguese blend of Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Cabernet and other varietals. It is smooth, rich and dense with dark berry fruit and spice. It shows considerable depth and a great finish.
Our last entry is the 2017 Brotte Chateauneuf-du-Pape. 70% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Mourvedre, this delivers a perfumed, exotic bouquet of ripe berries, violets and subtle herbal notes. Plush and elegant, it’s a charming, layered, sexy red to enjoy over the coming decade or so.
We’ve always said our Wine Club is about exploration. With wines this month from Spain, Italy, Portugal and France, you see what we mean!
Thank you, have a great month, and hope to see you soon!
