Now for the wines…
WINE CLUB TASTING NOTES:
We’ll begin with the Silvers. The 2021 Santa Julia Reserva Cabernet is from Argentina.
It’s expansive on the palate and well-structured, with an herbal note that gives a lift to aromas and flavors of currants, pepper and spice.
Next is the 2019 Blackboard Red from Washington’s Columbia Valley, a blend of Cab and Merlot.
Soft, silky tannins envelop juicy flavors of blackberry and black cherry, with hints of walnut, spice and earth.
Now, for Gold Level, we have the 2018 Tridente Prieto Picudo from Spain. Prieto Picudo is a varietal native to the province of Leon.
The wine reveals vibrant notes of ripe plum and blueberry, with dashes of toast and vanilla from 15 months aging in French oak.
We wind up with the 2019 Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet from that appellation in Sonoma.
This is focused, with bright boysenberry, blackberry, cassis, spice, fig and tobacco notes, finishing smooth and long.
Cheers, thank you, and have a great month of May!
