The monthly free bottle winner is Peggy Curran. Congrats!
Your STOCK-UP DAYS for August are Saturday and Sunday, the 21st and 22nd. Take advantage of your discount!
As is now customary, we’re giving you not 1 but 3 opportunities to taste the wines. All four will be available Tues-Thurs, August 3-5. This tasting is FREE for you and your spouse, or a friend.
Let’s get into the Club wines now, Silver first. The 2019 Vietti Barbera hails from Italy’s Piedmont region.
This is a medium-bodied dry red with food-friendly acidity and approachable tannins, showing fine balance and flavors of cherry, cranberry, vanilla and earth.
The 2017 Solanera is a blend of Monastrell, Cabernet and Tintorera from the Spanish region of Yecla.
Ripe, expressive and alluring, this wine offers notes of dark fruit, spice, oak and chocolate.
On to Gold Level, starting with the 2017 Protos ’27 from Spain’s Ribera del Duero, 95 points Decanter:
“Wonderful raisin, creamy vanilla, caramel and cherry aromatics. Bright orange peel fruit on the palate where a lick of sassy vanillan oak and grippy tannin stamps added authority. It’s long, distinguished and eminently food-friendly.”
Finally, the 2018 Crognolo is a Tuscan blend of about 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot, 94 points James Suckling:
“Aromas of currants, flowers and orange blossom follow through to a full body with very fine tannins that are tight and polished. Beautiful length and polish.”
THANK YOU for being a wonderful part of the NCWC community. Hope to see you soon!
