WINE CLUB INFO:
Wow, September already! Which means a new batch of Club Wines for you!
Your tasting notes are just below. We’ll start with the necessary deets:
All 4 Club Wines will be open and available to taste during the first midweek of the month, which means Tues-Thurs, the 6th through 8th.
Your Stock-Up Days are Saturday and Sunday, the 10th and 11th. That’s a great opportunity to, well, you know, stock up!
Finally, our monthly Free Bottle winner is Chris Clapp. Congratulations!
ALSO… some exciting news… We are having a membership drive! We would love to continue sharing fine wines with the wine lovers of North County, and we’re asking for YOUR HELP.
And there’s a little something in it for you! For every new member you send our way, now through the end of the year, we will give you an extra $10 tasting credit to enjoy at the bar, PLUS a free 6 pack re-usable wine carrier!
Just have the new member mention your referral, and you’re all set. Thank you for helping us spread the love!
Now for the wines…
WINE CLUB TASTING NOTES:
Beginning with the Silver Level, we offer the 2020 Bonny Doon “Le Cigare Volant” from California’s Central Coast. This Grenache blend received 92 points from Wine Enthusiast:
“Aromas of cherry, grenadine, anise and toast lead to flavors of spice, raspberry, boysenberry and anise.”
Next is the 2020 Izadi White Rioja from Spain, a blend of indigenous varietals. White wine as you know is rare in our Club, but this one is really freakin’ cool, as well as being a nice option when it’s this hot. 93 points James Suckling:
“Very attractive notes of apple, lemon, honeysuckle and minerality. It’s firm, fresh and flavorful.”
Now for Gold Level. The 2019 Priest Ranch Cabernet is a Napa Valley classic:
This is a juicy, approachable wine to enjoy now and over the next decade, if you wish. Succulent cherry, plum, spice, chocolate, leather and rose petal notes combine on the velvety palate.
We close with the 2019 Herdade de Sao Miguel Reserva. (if this sounds familiar, the 2018 vintage was also a Wine Club selection, which says something about their consistency!)
This Wine Enthusiast 94 pointer is a blend of Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional and Cabernet.
This complex red evokes blackberry and blueberry, along with hints of spice, menthol and tobacco. It offers balance and richness through the long finish. The wine will age well for at least ten years.
We cannot thank you enough for your friendship and support. Cheers to you and yours!
