Howdy!
We’ll talk about your Club wines in a bit.
First, here’s the rest of the lowdown…
Your Pick-up Party is Tuesday, 8/4. Come on in
and taste all Club wines, any time from 4-9.
Our monthly BOTTLE WINNER is John Mason.
John, come on in and pick any past or present Silver
level wine.
The STOCK UP DAYS for this third quarter will
fall in September, fyi. Saturday and Sunday,
the 12th and 13th.
Now let’s talk about the Silver level wines. The 2012
Clos de los Siete is a red blend from Argentina,
overseen by world famous winemaker/consultant
Michel Rolland. This received 91 points from both
James Suckling and Antonio Galloni:
“57% Malbec, 18% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and
9% Syrah. Aromas and flavors of blackberry, cassis, black
cherry and dark chocolate. Dense, creamy and sweet,
conveying an impression of elegance for all its volume. A sweet,
spicy blend with harmonious tannins and noteworty length.”
Next is the 2013 Crasto Douro Red from Portugal,
91 points Wine Spectator:
“Powerful, with concentrated slate and mineral notes
to the dark currant, dried berry and raspberry ganache
flavors. Very lithe midpalate, with a long, focused finish.”
Now for the Gold level. The 2012 Mazzocco Cabernet
Sauvignon hails from Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma.
This is just deliciously balanced. Essences of black
currant and bing cherry with dabs of chocolate truffle
excite the nose while blackberry, raspberry and leather
embrace the palate. It’s packed with fleshy tannins,
finishing with hints of French vanilla and cardamom.
Last but definitely not least is the 2011 Chalk Hill
Estate Red, also from Sonoma County.
This is a gutsy effort that’s taut, dense, and firmly
rich and extracted, with loamy earth, dried dark berries,
forest floor, and cedar notes. It’s a blend of Malbec,
Cab, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Carmenere.
We would love to see you for the Pick-up Party
on Tuesday, August 4. Remember, it’s free!
Cheers!!
