Wow, starting the second half of the year
already! Thank you for your support – we look
forward to helping you enjoy the rest of the year!
Your Pick-up Party, which is your opportunity to
taste all 4 Club wines for free, falls on Wednesday,
July 6th, from 4-9.
The monthly BOTTLE WINNER is Kurt Streale,
aka Coach. Congratulations!
Now for the vino, Silver first. We’ll start with the 2014
Ritual Pinot Noir from Chile’s Casablanca Valley,
93 points James Suckling:
“Crushed ripe strawberries with blackberries. Some
mineral undertones too. Full body, firm tannins and a
fresh and racy finish.”
Silver #2 is the 2011 Sierra Cantabria Rioja Crianza,
91 points Vinous:
“Spice-accented aromas of black raspberry, cola and
smoky minerals , along with a suave floral overtone.
Silky and open-knit, offering sweet red berry flavors
and suggestions of five-spice powder and candied rose.
Finishes with bright, tangy lift, strong cut and very good
persistence, leaving a juicy red berry quality behind.”
Let’s move on to the Gold Level. No. 1 is the 2013
John Duval Entity Shiraz, 93 points Wine Spectator
and 95 points James Halliday:
“Allow this wine time to breathe and it spreads its wings
impressively. It tastes of dark, sweet-centred blackberry,
chocolate, mocha and ground spices but the way it
combines freshness and depth is the thing; ropes of
flavor-packed tannin stake a deep hold, keeping everything
in place both now and long into the future.”
Last but not least is the 2013 PeaceLand Zinfandel
from the Mayacamas Mountains of Sonoma.
This is absolutely classic Cali Zin, with aromas and
flavors of blueberry pie a la mode, richly impactful,
but with the structure to back it up. Just delicious.
So there you have it. We wish you a wonderful
month of July, and Happy 4th!
