Hello and Happy June!
Your Wine Pick-up Party this month will
be on the first WEDNESDAY, June 5th,
anytime from 5-9 pm. We’ll have both
the Silver and Gold level wines available
to taste.
Congratulations to our June winner of the
monthly free bottle, Jenn Wyatt!
Jenn, you may choose any past or present
Silver Level bottle.
Now let’s get to the wines, Silver Level first:
The 2010 Colome Estate Malbec hails from
Salta, Argentina, and received 91 points
from Wine Spectator:
“This suave, racy red delivers game, crushed
cherry and wild berry notes backed by fine
tannins and bright acidity. Compact, yet creamy
and well-balanced, with a long, savory finish.”
The 2007 Blue Cellars Syrah is from the
Truchard Vineyard in Napa Valley.
Very dark in the glass, this reveals ripe but
polished aromas of blueberry and blackberry,
with savory notes and oak spice. Full-bodied
and concentrated, the flavors echo the nose,
with toasty notes adding complexity. Stays
dark and chewy on the finish.
And now, the Gold Level Wines.
We’ll start with the 2009 Flora Springs
Trilogy from Napa Valley. A blend of
81% Cabernet, 14% Merlot, and 5%
Malbec (the trilogy), this received an
outstanding 92 points from Wine Spectator:
“A lovely wine, soft and charming, but far
from simple. Although it has complex layers
of cherries, blackberries, cassis and cedar,
it also shows a fine structure of ripe, smooth
tannins and supporting acidity.”
And we close with the 2010 Alto Moncayo
Veraton from Campo de Borja, Spain.
While not yet rated, the previous six vintages
received 92 or 93 points.
These are the winemaker’s notes:
“A heady bouquet evokes ripe red berries,
anise, mocha and pungent fresh flowers.
Supple and sweet on entry, then more structured
in the middle, offering deep, mineral-accented
dried strawberry and cherry liqueur flavors.
Takes a spicy turn on the long, sappy finish,
which echoes the pure red berry qualities.”
Again, all four of these wines will be available
for you to taste on Wednesday, 6/5. We’d
love for you to come give them a try!
That’s the story for June. Have a great month!
