We hope your year is humming along wonderfully, and we hope your
NCWC Club Wines help with that process! Here is your monthly dose
of useful data:
Your Pick-up Party, which is your opportunity to taste all 4 Club wines
for free, falls on Wednesday 5/2, from 5-9.
The monthly BOTTLE WINNER is Chris Lambillotte. Congratulations!
As for your 2nd Quarter STOCK UP DAYS, that happens on the second
weekend in June, i.e. the 9th and 10th.
Now here are your wines, Silver Level first. The 2015 Aia Vecchia Lagone
is a Tuscan blend of Merlot, Cabernet, and Cabernet Franc.
The aromas include notes of cherry, vanilla, beef and herbs. On the palate,
it is dry, structured and elegant with flavors of plum, ripe cherries, wild berries
and a hint of spice, followed by a lengthy and smooth finish that begs for food.
Silver #2 is the 2013 San Simeon Petite Sirah from Paso Robles. This wine
got a 93 point score from Wine Enthusiast:
“This is a wine for those who crave density and ripeness. Black currant,
mint, fudge and burnt caramel aromas show powerfully on the nose, while
the strong tannic frame leaps onto the palate to deliver caramel, milk chocolate
and black cherry-syrup flavors.”
Gold Level wines next. You get a choice this month! You can take two wines,
as is typical, and these are those:
The 2015 Isole e Olena Chianti Classico is 80% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo,
and 5% Syrah. 92 points Wine Advocate:
“This is a smooth and silky Sangiovese that glides clean over the palate with
strength and intensity. Bright cherry, blueberry and herbal accents with wild sage
and rosemary characterize the finish.”
The 2015 Sparkman “Holler” Cabernet is from Washington’s Columbia Valley.
It is 79% Cab, with dashes of Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cab Franc and Syrah.
The winemaker calls this a “phantasmagoria” of aromas and flavors, including
red, black, and blue fruit, chocolate, spice, cinnamon, and stony minerality… all
with beautiful texture.
OR… you may grab one bottle of this… the 2013 Keever Inspirado, which is
87% Cabernet with the balance Merlot and Malbec.
This is amazing. Aromas of dark purple berries, mulling spices, toasted hazelnuts
and wild anise waft from the glass. On the palate, the wine shows a texture of dark chocolate; thick and rich with just enough textural grip to add a sense of youth to the finish. Multi-layered sensations of toast, vanilla, ripe fruit and mineral notes weave themselves through the palate, with a lingering sense of ripe, intense cassis.
Thank you as always for allowing us to help you enjoy life. Hope to see you soon.
