Welcome to another new month, and thank you
once again for your continued support!
Your Pick-up Party is Tuesday, 9/8. Come on in
and taste all Club wines, any time from 4-9.
Our monthly BOTTLE WINNER is Tyson Dickens.
Tyson, come on in and pick any past or present Silver
level wine.
The STOCK UP DAYS for this third quarter will
be Saturday and Sunday, September 12th and 13th.
This is when all members get 10% off all wines in
the shop! (excluding close outs)
Now let’s talk about the Silver level wines. First is the
2012 Luna Cabernet Sauvignon from California.
Fragrances include blackberry, hazelnut and black olive.
Juicy and ripe, with plum and blackberry fruits that combine
with smooth acidity to create a long, smooth finish.
Next is the 2010 Il Molino di Grace “Il Volano” from Tuscany.
90 points Wine Spectator:
“Fresh, with elegance and a firm tannin structure. Cherry
and raspberry notes are pure, and this shows harmony
and length on the spicy finish.”
Now for the Gold level. First we have a wine that would
normally be beyond the reach of any of our wine clubs;
we were fortunate to grab some of this at a discount
when it changed distributors and the previous company
decided to just dump their existing stock!
This is the 2009 Liparita Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon.
93 points Wine Enthusiast:
“A beautiful Cabernet, showing classic Oakville ripeness
in its flavors of black and red berry, currant and spice.
There’s also a fine, tangy note of green olive that brings
an earthiness to the fruit. The structure is seamless, the
tannins smooth and flashy.”
Finally, a wine that rocked the house last weekend
when it was part of our Top Flight – the 2013 Venge
Scout’s Honor from Napa Valley
This wine is based on a tradition of producing a full bodied,
delicious – and immediately enjoyable red – with a base of
old-vine Zinfandel and built up with old-vine Charbono,
dry-farmed Petite Sirah, and finished with mountain vineyard
Syrah. The end result is a serious, yet unpretentious red that’s
always at the top of Robert Parker’s all-time favorites.
We would love to see you for the Pick-up Party
on Tuesday, September 8th.
Cheers, and be well!
