Howdy!
To start with, here’s advance notice of
your 4th Quarter Stock-up Days, which
will fall on Saturday November 30 and
Sunday December 1. That’s when you get
10% off everything in the store, so mark
those days down!
Your Wine Pick-up Party this month will
be on the FIRST TUESDAY, November 5th,
anytime from 5-9 pm. We’ll have both
the Silver and Gold level wines available
to taste, and doing so costs you nothing.
Congratulations to our November winner of the
monthly free bottle, Debbie Mouser. Debbie, you may
choose any past or present Silver Level bottle.
Now for the wines, beginning with Silver Level:
First up is the 2009 Keeper from Adelaida Cellars
of Paso Robles, which is a Rhone-style blend of
38% Grenache, 29% Mourvedre, 20% Syrah,
11% Cinsault, and 2% Counoise.
In keeping with its inspiration, the wine carries
enough acidity to balance its ample flavors of
black cherry and vanilla, with mocha and oak
accents. It’s altogether a very pleasing wine
that will pair well with many different foods.
Silver number two is the 2011 Punto Final Malbec
Reserva from Argentina, which posted a 90-point
score from Wine Spectator:
“This dark, polished red mixes crushed blackberry,
cassis, plum skin, underbrush and olive hints on a
full-bodied frame. The long finish ends with an aftertaste
of mocha.”
Now for the Gold Level Wines. Given the nature
of the gustatory extravaganza at the end of the
month, both of these are built for the table!
First we have the 2009 Regis Bouvier Clos du Roy
Marsannay, a red Burgundy, which means of course
it is 100% Pinot Noir.
This single vineyard offering impresses with its lush
Pinot Noir perfume and taste of fresh cherries and earth.
This is Burgundy, sweet and gentle. Bouvier’s Marsannay
vineyard isn’t premier cru but may as well be for the
quality of the juice it produces. A fine value from a fine
winemaker and grower.
Then you have the 2011 Round Pond Cabernet
from Napa Valley, sourced primarily from the
winery’s Rutherford vineyard.
A balanced Cabernet Sauvignon ideal for meals,
this wine makes its intentions known with aromas
of cherry cola and grilled dark fruit complemented
by savory yet subtle sage, cloves, and dried lavender.
The bouquet prepares the palate for a complex
marriage of fruits, warm herbs and spices, and plush
velvety tannins, all perched atop mouth-watering acidity.
Again, all four of these wines will be available
for you to taste on Tuesday, November 5th.
Please come give them a try!
Have a great month, and Happy Thanksgiving!!
