Vision is a precious thing. It allows us to
experience so much beauty – from nature,
to art, to the glory of a child’s smile.
But when it comes to tasting wine, vision
helps us cheat a little, doesn’t it? We see
a label and register its information about
producer, varietal, and vintage, and we
make assumptions. We can’t help it.
Which is what makes blind tasting so fun!
All those assumptions get stripped away,
and we’re left with only our own perceptions.
For better, or for worse.
So what do you think? Can you taste blind
and tell the difference between a Merlot,
a Cab, and a Zin? We’re going to give you
that chance this Wednesday, 12/7, anytime
from 5-9 pm, for just 10 bucks.
We’ll pour 5 different varietals – no blends.
They’re each wines that we think are classically
representative of their type; we’re not looking
to trick anyone.
We are, however, providing some incentive.
If someone gets 5 out of 5 varietals correct
they will win a $10 gift card. If more than
1 person gets them all, we’ll have you guess
vintages for the tiebreaker.
Come on down and give it a try! Blind tasting
can be a challenge, but it’s an enjoyable one.
Who knows? You might surprise yourself!
