Rodney Dangerfield always said he never
got no respect. On Halloween the
neighborhood parents would send their
kids out dressed like him. He asked
a bartender to make him a Zombie; the
bartender said “God beat me to it.”
He told his wife he wanted to get a
home improvement loan; she gave him a
thousand bucks and told him to get out.
He told her he got excited thinking about
the last time they had sex; she said,
“who is this?”
Poor Rodney. No respect. Same goes for
some wines we know and love. Great flavors,
great aromas, even great prices. But no
respect.
So this Wednesday, March 7th, we want to
give these beauties their chance to shine.
The Tasting will run anytime from 5-9 pm,
and it’s only 10 bucks. Here they are:
Brokenwood Semillon 2010, $17.97
-94 points James Halliday
Henry Fessy Moulin-a-Vent 2009, $15.97
-90 points Wine Enthusiast
Marques de Casa Concha Carmenere 2007, $18.97
-91 points Robert Parker
Nuna Bonarda 2009, $15.97
-90 points Bill Tobin
Man Shiraz 2009, $7.97
-87 points Wine Enthusiast
Rancho Sisquoc Syrah 2009, $12.97
-89 points Jim Tobin
Obviously these did get some love from
the wine press. When we say “No respect,”
we’re talking about consumers. Each of
these wines represents a category or
region that is under-appreciated.
Rodney asked his dad to take him to the zoo;
his dad replied, “if they want you they’ll
come and get you.”
Well, these wines just want a little respect.
Come and give it to ’em!
