It is time, my friend, for a journey.
A glorious journey to the land of the
Eiffel Tower, the Hunchback of Notre
Dame, Monet, Truffaut, “Les Miserables,”
and, of course, many of the most famous –
and expensive – wines in the entire world.
Not that we’ll be tasting Lafite, Petrus,
and DRC this Wednesday, April 18th. We’d
have to charge hundreds of dollars for that
event. What we WILL be pouring, anytime
from 5-9, for $10/person, are these more
affordable examples of the French art of
winemaking:
Domaine Schlumberger Pinot Gris Les Princes Abbes 2009, $17.97
-91 points Wine Spectator
Vigneau-Chevreau Vouvray 2010, $17.97
-89 points Jim Tobin
Mas de Mas Corbieres 2008, $12.97
-87 points Tobin Bros.
Domaine Saint Martin Garrigue Cuvee Reservee 2008, $12.97
-86 points Tobin Bros.
Chateau Beaulieu Bordeaux 2009, $17.97
-91 points Wine Spectator
Domaine Le Couroulu Vacqueyras 2007, $23.97
-91 points Stephen Tanzer
If you’re unfamiliar with French wines,
this is a golden opportunity to get
better acquainted. You can even wear
a beret and fake a French accent, if
you want.
Just don’t steal the Bishop’s candlesticks.
(big props to anyone who gets the reference!)
