CORTE GIACOBBE SOAVE 2017

This lovely Italian white is made from the Garganega grape, all organically grown.  Ripe melon, honey, tangerine, jasmine, chamomile, rosemary, and hay are all present on the nose and throughout. Melon and citrus linger on the palate, along with lemon peel, banana, and white peach. The finish is crisp with a vibrant minerality that cuts through the creamy, dried almond aftertaste.   13.97/bottle.

CUTTINGS CABERNET 2017

Coming in at 15.4% alcohol, this big boy captures the spirit of the new wave of Napa Valley winemaking.  This wine is seductive, with aromas and flavors of boysenberry, blackberry, blackcurrant, oak, violets and vanilla providing a magic carpet ride for all the senses.  From The Prisoner Wine Company.  94 points Wilfred Wong.  33.97/bottle.

HERMAN STORY CASUAL ENCOUNTERS 2017

These wines are always big, bold, and fun… and so are winemaker Russell From’s descriptive notes.  Check out his creative take on this blend of Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache, Carignan, and Tannat:  “You never thought you’d get this far, but the wood-paneled bar with neon-lit signs has dissolved into your apartment balcony, where she’s hungry and waiting. Frying up a grilled cheese in the kitchen you realize you’re not kids anymore, so you’re trying to channel your inner Thomas Keller, chopping fresh rosemary and sage, sizzling bacon, spreading pepper jelly. She hand-rolls a cigarette as you split the sandwich. Miles away, thunder rolls. The air turns earthy and sweet. Let it fill the space between you until the rain begins.”  45.97/bottle.
